Most of the Sierra Rescue crew headed up the coast to Fortuna, CA last week to teach and train 65 of the newly signed on members of the Watershed Stewards Project. Julie and Abi headed up the Wilderness First Aid training while Zach worked the stream rescue component. Energy was high and we had a blast. If any of you are familiar with the area, finding water to teach in was the biggest challenge, as the Eel was flowing at a strong 11 cfs, and its tributaries near by were dry. We ended up using the beach-front tidal estuary at Crab Island on the coast. Ocean front stream rescue was a hit. Many thanks to Americorps and the CCC. CC see you next year!
