My last course for the fall was a great one. 7 students were in Coloma for some swiftwater action. We saw good water and awesome weather. UK native, Icelandic River Guide Mark Hirst joined us for the course and had some great additions and perspective for the river guides in the course. Plus, we found a new use for the Transport Hitch: Tension Diagonal. The fast simple rope technique we recently learned from the PJ’s continues to amaze students, and lends itself to numerous applications in swiftwater.

Have a great fall, I’m headed back home to Texas for the Rescue 3 IT conference and Technical Rescue Academy. Then its off to Jackson Hole, Wy to hunker down for the winter and ski some powder. Keep an eye on the blog through the off-season to see what we’re up to and what we’ve  got in the works for next spring. You can find the 2013 course schedule at Sierrarescue.com.

Till next time,
