SRT-1 / River Rescue SRT-Advanced 4.20.2012-4.25.2012
We just finished up and awesome set of courses in Yosemite National Park. As I have said before the Merced through the Park is my favorite place to teach in the Spring time. Yosemite’s many waterfalls were pumping into the valley and the weather was amazing all week. The course was a combination course of the SRT-1 and RRC immediately followed by the SRT-Advanced. We went rafting on a class II-III section of the Merced River in the park just before it gets raging on its way toward El
Portal, and were able to incorporate down river scenarios and a variety of training sites. In the advanced course we trained with a high-line boat on a tether as well as a rescuer on a high-line utilizing a mid-point drop for access and pick-offs.
Its hard to beat a training site where, you fall asleep to Yosemtie falls at night, and get to work next to bridal vail falls, and underneath half-dome during the day. Lots of space in the May course coming up in two weeks. Check out the course schedule at sierrarescue.com. See you on the water and remember: ‘Train hard and stay safe.’-ZB 4.28.12
