Wilderness Advanced First Aid and First Responder Course

Wilderness Advanced First Aid and First Responder Course
  • Course Date – 2/25-3/7
  • Course Location – Peach Springs, AZ
  • Group – Hualapai River Runners and Grand Canyon West

We had another great training with Hualapai River Runners and Grand Canyon West.  This year we had a mix of pontoon boat operators, boatman that do the Diamond Creek to Pierce Ferry run as well as photographers, greeters and ranch workers from Grand Canyon West.

The last three years it has snowed during this training, so we feel super lucky to not only have a great group but also great weather.
The course was a mix of folks with whom this was their first time training with us, to people who have been coming for years.

It was great seeing old friends and great to make new ones.  We had stellar accommodations at the Hualapai Lodge and lunch time favorites like Hualapai Tacos – all the traditional taco fixings on a piece of fry bread-fantastic!

We had 10 Boatmen either upgrading or recertifying their Wilderness First Responder, which is the most we’ve ever had! Congrats to those who worked hard and achieved this goal!

We had a couple great final scenarios including a boat trailer accident, a flash flood and a heliocopter crash.  Great leadership, triage and care was given to all.

It is an honor to work with the Hualapai tribe and we appreciate their hospitality and the commitment of the students to learning the material.

We look forward to being on the water with them all next week!
