This is an excellent video we produced during a swiftwater rescue instructors course in Knights Ferry. The folks teaching the skill are Ryan Higgins and Erik Nelson who are both Rescue 3/ Sierra Rescue swiftwater rescue instrcutors. The general idea with this is to “trick” the victim into reaching up for a rope and then snaring them with a rope that is down around their torso. By using this technique, a few lives have alreay been saved in real water rescues. Check out the video, and be sure to get training in rescue before trying to perform any real swiftwater rescue. Check out SierraRescue.com for our course schedule and classes!
