We have been lucky enough to be a part of UC Davis’ Beginners Guide Training (BGT) for the last 15 years and counting.
For the last few years this has been one of the coldest River Rescue Certification (RRC) classes we have taught with wind, rain and hail. Every year the BGT’ers amaze us with their toughness and ability to withstand anything that gets tossed at them and their farmer johns. But…this year the weather gods took good care of us and it was sunny skies, warm temps and great water levels. Zach, Mike and I had tons of fun with them and the trainers.
This year we capped the course off with our annual swiftwater competition. Mike and Zach organized a competition between Team Colorado and Team Arkansas with the continental divide separating the two teams. Team Arkansas pulled it off in the end by mere seconds, excelling in the throwbag finale.
Thanks to Jordy Margid and all of the trainers for making this years course such a success, we couldn’t have done it without you.
We love you OA UCD!
