Fall is in the air and what better way to spend a week than playing with ropes in a technical rope training on Donner summit. With the King fire looming close at hand at rapidly growing, we had some interesting weather patterns. This group of ski patrollers, fire-fighters, and coast guard swimmers did not shy from the elements and combined forces for a great training.
From an instructional standpoint, its really rewarding to see the progression of a 5-day rope training. Some of the students had little to no rope experience at the onset of the course. 5 days later the students were putting there skills to work and ran one of the more efficient high lines I’ve seen. To be operational with the system in an hour and put 18 students on a mid-point drop high line, was awesome.
