It’s Nice to be back in California with the summer heat after a couple of cold courses in Wyoming. I had a great two-day kayaker specific river rescue course this past weekend. Students brought a good mix of experience to the table. We explored boat-based rescue options for kayakers involved in rescue situations, and put heavy emphasis on prevention and self rescue. The goal to expand upon the swiftwater rescue ‘tool belt’ was met and we practiced lots of hands on scenarios including foot/body entrapment, pinned kayaks, and strainer rescue. Overall it was a great class. Thanks! -ZB 6.4.12
